At Freedom Assembly, INC, we are deeply committed to serving as the definitive registry for Black Californians who are descendants of enslaved persons. Established in 1998 and based in Culver City, California, our non-profit organization extends its services across all 59 counties in the state. Our primary focus is to assist individuals in obtaining the necessary historical documentation that traces their lineage back to 1865. This crucial service supports the upcoming reparations schedule set by the State of California to commence in August 2024. By providing access to essential records like birth certificates, complete with names and dates, we ensure our community members are prepared to claim their rightful benefits.
Our history of community service includes operating homeless shelters in Los Angeles, Riverside, and Imperial Counties since 1996, alongside programs for feeding, housing, and distributing household items to those in need. As we continue to expand our efforts, we invite those who require our assistance or wish to contribute to our cause to connect with us.
